Task
ePortfolio
In the first assessment for the module you created a learning contract that outlined your personal plan for skills development. That learning contract was worth 20% of your total module mark.
This final assessment is worth 80% of the module marks and addresses all 4 module learning outcomes:
- Knowledge of key skills required in personal and professional development, including self-appraisal, use of feedback, reflection, curation of evidence, and evaluation
- Enhanced interpersonal and communication skills in a variety of negotiated contexts
- Ability to identify and select for development personal and professional objectives relating to programme of study or career goals
- Ability to plan and action development opportunities – through effective self-directed learning and reflection on their own practice and experience
Youreportfolio of evidence is the vehicle we will use to ascertain how well you have achieved your objectives. You should have been maintaining and updating your eportfolio regularly throughout the module as and when you did activities and in response to tutor feedback during the weekly supervisions.
We need to see the following evidence:
- that you have created and regularly and appropriately maintained the eportfolio generally;
- then specifically, in the Learning contract page you have given an account of the extent to which you have achieved each one of the 4 learning outcomes, how you did so, where in the eportfolio is the evidence for this;
- and specifically in the curated artefacts page you have selected the one best piece of evidence for each learning outcome and have presented it on that page with a brief explanation as to why you have chosen that evidence.
What you must hand in: You must upload your eportfolio URL to the assignment link called End of ModuleePortfolio Submission. (WE should already have your URL but by submitting to this link you show us that your work is ready to be assessed by the deadline.)
When you must hand in: The deadline is Friday 11th January at 5pm

Finalised Learning Contract
Learning Contract
So far in the module you have undertaken some tasks to help you identify the specific skills you wish to develop (subject specific & technical skills; transferable skills; experiential learning skills), and you have been given an indication of some activities that could help you do this.
In this learning contract you are confirming with your tutor what your plan is. This is worth 20% of the module marks. At the end of the module, for the remaining 80%, you will be assessed on your eportfolio of evidence as to what you have been able to achieve.
Remember that the module is largely concerned with self-directed learning and then your ability to communicate this learning. This involves: self-appraisal (at the start and continued throughout); identification & setting of objectives (at the start); actioning your plan (throughout); reflecting on and then acting on feedback (throughout);giving feedback (throughout); interpersonal communication (throughout and in final curated eportfolio); curating your evidence (throughout and at the end); evaluation(throughout and at the end).
Finally, remember that you are trying to evidence 200 hours of learning on the module.
PART A To get you started there are suggested activities for each learning outcome: delete any that do not apply, and add in other activities of your own choosing. |
1. To demonstrate I have achieved learning outcome 1 ‘Knowledge of key skills required in personal and professional development, including self-appraisal, use of feedback, reflection, curation of evidence, and evaluation’ I propose to do the following: |
· Update my eportfolio weekly · Respond to tutor, employer and peer feedback · Coding e.g. C#, JavaScript
· Regularly self-rating on progress through the module · Organise all my learning results for end of module assessment · Evidence my self-study
I believe the amount of time on these tasks will be(break down by task):
- Update my eportfolio weekly – (7 hours) - Respond to tutor, employer and peer feedback – (7 hours) - Coding e.g. C#, JavaScript –(9 hours) - Regularly self-rating on progress through the module – (9 hours) - Organise all my learning result for end of module assessment – (9 hours) - Evidence my self-study – (9 hours)
I feel these activities/evidences will help me demonstrate mastery of the knowledge/skill because: - I feel that uploading my eportfolio weekly will help me to look back on all my previous work and where I’m at the moment and how much I have improved. Responding to feedback will help me to further improve my skills and knowledge the right way and the way my tutor, peers and employers sees I should. Improving coding will help me further expand on my knowledge on coding and I will eventually become comfortable to the point where I can confidently use coding every day. Regularly self-rating my progress will help me see how I am doing on all my work and see if I need to go back and improve on anything before moving on. Organising all my learning results will help me see which modules I will need to improve on and go back to, this will help me on not having to waste time on modules that I am good at and instead focusing on the modules I need to improve. Evidence of my self-study will help me see if will need to do anymore studying then I already am, to see if I am doing enough studying.

2. To demonstrate I have achieved learning outcome 2 ‘Enhanced interpersonal and communication skills in a variety of negotiated contexts’I propose to do the following: |
· Produce and give a presentation and respond to audience feedback · Written communication · Verbal communication · Provide feedback to peers
· Prepare for, attend, and respond to feedback from an interview · Attend and write up an industry visit · Interact with peers in group tasks such as assessment centres
I believe the amount of time on these tasks will be(break down by task):
- Produce and give a presentation and respond to audience feedback – (7 hours) - Written communication – (7 hours) - Verbal communication – (7 hours) - Provide feedback to peers – (7 hours) - Prepare for, attend, and respond to feedback from an interview – (7 hours) - Attend and write up an industry visit – (8 hours) - Interact with peers in group tasks such as assessment centres – (7 hours)
I feel these activities/evidences will help me demonstrate mastery of the knowledge/skill because: - Giving a presentation will help me become more confident in making presentation in front of a variety of people; it will also help me improve my English skills in the long run, which means I will also be improving my verbal communication skills too. It will also help me in my chances of being hired if my communication skills are better. Providing feedback to my peers will help me see how other people work through their tasks and problems, it could also help me with my work in return. Having prepared for interviews will help me become comfortable with being interviewed in the future, which means it will be a lot easier for me to handle the pressure of it. Improving my written communication skills will help me if I need to email anyone in the future, so that they can understand what I am asking for, it can also help with if I need to write any reports or anything of the sort in the future. By interacting with peers in groups tasks I will be able to get a feel for how they work and how to communicate my opinions to other groups members.
3. To demonstrate I have achieved learning outcome 3 ‘Ability to identify and select for development personal and professional objectives relating to programme of study or career goals’I propose to do the following: |
· Team work
· Reflect on skillset required for specific career through online research · Reflect on skillset for specific career as a result of short placement
I believe the amount of time on these tasks will be(break down by task):
- Team work – (7 hours) - Software engineering – (7 hours) - Software development – (7 hours) - Employability skills – (7 hours) - Writing CV/personal statement – (8 hours) - Reflect on skillset required for specific career through online research – (7 hours) - Reflect on skillset for specific career as a result of short placement – (7 hours)
I feel these activities/evidences will help me demonstrate mastery of the knowledge/skill because: - Team work will help me in being able to work well with other people as I will need to work with many people in the future, it will also help improve my communication skills, and it will also help with presenting to others. Software engineering and software development will help me work through problems in a professional viewpoint, it will also help me analyse the problem and requirements, developing the suitable software and validate of the correct solution. Employability skills will help me, see what skills I will be needing in the future for work and or just working in University with others or even on placement. Reflecting on skillsets for placement and online research will help show my knowledge and understanding of the skills I require for working in the future, it will help me improve on the skills before going into working for real. It will also show that I will be able to write a CV and personal statement at the end of my years in University, by myself alone, meaning I will be able to do it for any job that I wish to apply for in the future.
4. To demonstrate I have achieved learning outcome 4 ‘Ability to plan and action development opportunities – through effective self-directed learning and reflection on their own practice and experience’ I propose to do the following: |
· Update my eportfolio weekly · Plan time on tasks during the module · Finding a good placement |
· Monitor progress on achieving aims · Final evaluation
I believe the amount of time on these tasks will be(break down by task):
- Update my eportfolio weekly – (10 hours) - Plan time on tasks during the module – (10 hours) - Finding a good placement – (10 hours) - Monitor progress on achieving aims – (10 hours) - Final evaluation – (10 hours)
I feel these activities/evidences will help me demonstrate mastery of the knowledge/skill because: - Updating my weekly eportfolio will help me to keep track of what I am doing, what I can improve on and it will help me keep everything organized so my work isn’t a mess. Planning my time on tasks during modules will help me to be able to spend the equal or the correct amount of time on each of the modules so I can use my time wisely, instead having wasted so much of my time on a smaller module. Finding a good placement will help me to understand how the industry that I want to work in the future in works, it will give me a advantage over other people who might not have had placement, as I will have experience over other people. Monitoring my progress on achieving my aims will help me in keep track of the work that I am doing and on what I have already completed so I won’t have to stress about what work I still have to complete. Evaluation of my work will help me see the areas that need improvement and I will be able to focus on them without worrying about failing my subject as I have prepared for it well. |
PART B |
5. To achieve what I want to achieve, I may need help with the following: - To achieve what I want to achieve I would also like help with improving my communication skills, in particular my English skills as my English is quite poor. I would also like help with my presentation skills, for example how to do presentation and how to actually present presentations in front of different kinds of audiences. I’m not also sure of what I’m needed to write for most of the tasks, I understand the questions, but I don’t know how much I need to elaborate on my answers and how much they want me to write. I would also like help with this. I will also need help with coding e.g. C#, JavaScript, UML, etc so I can become more confident and comfortable with it. I would also like help with Technical skills, such as design, programming, testing and development as there is always something to improve or to expand on my knowledge on things. Interacting with my peers in groups tasks will help me improve not only my communication skills but my group work skills, which will come in handy once I actually have to go to work as I will have to work with other people in the future.
